The Quiet, Architectural One

Of all the hotel profiles, this is the most restrained. Green leaf and sweet orange give it a cool, almost shaded opening — the smell of a lobby with stone floors and tall windows — and black tea carries the middle so nothing turns perfumed. Vanilla and lily of the valley close it without adding weight.

It is the scent to choose when you want a room to feel considered rather than decorated.

What It Smells Like

• Opening: green leaf and sweet orange — cool, leafy, faintly bitter
• Heart: black tea and white flowers — dry, tea-like, understated
• Dry-down: vanilla and lily of the valley — soft, clean, barely sweet

The tea note is the point. It keeps the florals from turning soapy and gives the room a slight dryness that reads as modern rather than classic.

Where It Works Best

Studies, bedrooms, reading corners, minimal interiors and any room with a lot of hard surface. It is also the safest of the hotel scents for a small apartment, because it never becomes loud.
