Spiced Citrus Over Resinous Woods

This is the warmest and driest of our hotel scents. Bergamot, bitter orange and citrus open it with a peel-like sharpness, cardamom and pepper add a spice that is felt more than smelled, and the base — amber, benzoin, sandalwood — is where it settles and stays. Benzoin gives it a faint balsamic sweetness, the kind you find in old hotel libraries.

It is a cold-weather scent that also works in air conditioning.

What It Smells Like

• Opening: bergamot, bitter orange, citrus — dry peel, not juice
• Heart: cardamom and pepper — warm spice, restrained
• Dry-down: amber, benzoin, sandalwood — resinous, woody, slightly sweet

The pepper is what keeps this from becoming a generic amber. It gives the middle a texture that most warm scents lack.

Where It Works Best

Lounges, libraries, suites, dining rooms and any room with wood furniture. It suits autumn and winter best, but works year-round in air-conditioned interiors.

Pairing the Diffuser to the Room

A500 for a lounge or dining room. A600 for a suite. A900 for a lobby with high ceilings — the wood notes carry further than citrus does.
